Data

Data sources and methodology

MyWetFoot combines nearby location search, tide prediction, river forecast, station, datum, satellite, and model information into a consistent graphing experience.

Tides

Tide graphs show predicted water levels and high or low tide events where available. Datum lines help compare predictions against local reference levels.

Rivers

River graphs can show forecast flow, height, temperature, and uncertainty bands when those values are available from the backend services.

Locations

Nearby locations are selected from geospatial data and service-side lookup logic, then ranked by distance from the requested coordinates.

Copernicus Marine Service

Generated using E.U. Copernicus Marine Service Information.

Products
Add the exact Copernicus Marine product names used by MyWetFoot.
DOIs
Add the relevant product DOI links from the Copernicus Marine catalogue.
Accessed
Add access dates for each product when the production dataset list is finalized.

AVISO+ and DUACS

AVISO+ product attribution depends on the exact product family. Add the product-specific acknowledgement required for the AVISO+/DUACS, FES, X-TRACK, or auxiliary products used by MyWetFoot.

Products
Add the exact AVISO+ product names, for example DUACS, FES, X-TRACK, or auxiliary product identifiers as applicable.
Credit
Add the required product-specific wording from AVISO+ before public launch.

NOAA

Data and information from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are credited to NOAA and, where possible, to the specific NOAA office, program, product, or service.

Likely products
Add the exact NOAA products used, such as NOAA CO-OPS tides and currents, National Ocean Service resources, National Water Prediction Service data, or other NOAA services.
Usage note
NOAA credit does not imply NOAA endorsement of MyWetFoot or any derived product.

River forecast and geospatial sources

MyWetFoot may use river forecast, hydrologic, map, station, and geospatial services to locate nearby water features and present forecast series.

GEOGLOWS / ECMWF
Add the applicable GEOGLOWS and ECMWF attribution for river identifiers and forecasts if those products are used in production.
OpenStreetMap / Overpass
Add OpenStreetMap attribution if OSM-derived locations or map features are presented publicly.
Local agencies
Add any national, regional, or local hydrometric agencies used for station metadata, observed levels, datums, or forecast values.

Interpretation

  • Predicted values are estimates and can differ from observed conditions.
  • Datum availability varies by location and source.
  • River forecasts can change as upstream conditions and model runs update.
  • MyWetFoot may transform, cache, interpolate, filter, or combine upstream data before presenting it.

Safety and endorsement

MyWetFoot is not an official warning system. Always check official local guidance, weather alerts, flood warnings, signage, and observed conditions before making safety-critical decisions near water.

Provider names and credits identify data sources only. They do not imply endorsement of MyWetFoot or responsibility for MyWetFoot interpretations.
